Refreshingly simple, surprisingly perfect.
Woodgate Beach is a quaint little town that reminds you of beach holidays in days gone by, with no high rises, no tacky neon, and no fighting for space on an overcrowded beach. Speaking of the beach, it’s sheltered so there’s no big waves to contend with – perfect for families. Bring the kayaks and paddle boards or just kick back and enjoy a peaceful beach getaway.
Located just 90 metres from the beach on a quiet street (but let’s face it, all the streets in Woodgate are quiet) Woodgate Beach Apartments consists of four renovated 2 bedroom apartments and one ground floor 1 bedroom apartment. All apartments have beach facing balconies, the perfect place to soak up the sun and enjoy the afternoon sea breezes.
Fresh, neat and tidy, 2 bedroom apartments sleep 5 and have everything you’ll need including a full modern kitchen, TV and DVD player, Coffee Machine (BYO ALDI pods), BBQ, air conditioning and ceiling fans along with private laundry facilities to make longer stays comfortable. And seeing as we’re pet friendly, your four-legged friend can come and enjoy it as well.
Bring them too!
We know how hard it can be leaving your furry friends at home, not to mention the costs involved in sending them to the kennels, that’s why we don’t mind if you bring them with you.
There are a few house rules to keep everyone happy – small/medium dogs and cats can be inside, large dogs are best outside. There is a yard but it isn’t fenced so you’ll need to bring a long lead to keep them safe.
To ensure the freedom to bring them remains you’ll need to clean up after them, and ensure they don’t chew anything or bark all night. And please, don’t let them chase the kangaroos. Other than that, we hope you’ll love it as much as they will.
Dogs should be on a leash when on the beach for the comfort of other beach goers.
what to do
You’re on holidays by the beach… relax!
If you really feel the need to do something you can always stroll along the 16km of beautiful sandy beaches, or why not cycle along the beachfront bike path? Woodgate is totally surrounded by the Burrum Coast National Park – perfect if you want to throw on a day-pack and get back to nature on a bush walk, or explore in your 4WD. Head along to the bowls club for some barefoot bowls and lunch or dinner, or try your luck at fishing. Bring the tinny or throw a line straight off the beach, there are plenty of locals available to give you the tip on what’s running and where (Patrick at First National office always knows where they’re biting). Don’t forget to check and see what entertainment is going on at the pub, it’s a great place to kick back and have a meal and a cold beer.
The local wildlife is also sure to impress with whales, turtles, pelicans and the local rainbow lorikeets all making a show from time to time, not to mention the hundreds of kangaroos that come into town every afternoon.
A short drive away, there’s plenty to see in Childers, or visit the home of the square bear, the Bundaberg Rum factory at Bundaberg. If you ge the season right stop in at Mon Repos Turtle Hatchery. You can always head down to Harvey Bay and go out whale watching or grab a boat across to Fraser Island and explore the largest sand island in the world.
